- EN REDNINGS STIGE DANSKE HAVNE
- A RESCUE LADDER FOR DANISH PORTS
- Brief: Danish ports have over a long period of time undergone major transformations from being decisive traffic and leisure ports to attractive areas of housing, business and cultural institutions increasing pedestrian traffic along the quay and number of drowning incidents. For that reason, in 2012 TrygFonden foundation, which works to create secure enviroment in Denmark, made an internation call for a new design idea for rescue ladder for the Danish ports and water fronts. Project description: The proposed ladder form sends a clear message of safety, its rescue function and association with Denmark and its waterfront landscape. The design interacts and complements Trygfonden iconic lifeguard tower and the new lifebuoy and, like both of them, will contribute to make waterfront safer. The ladder will be clearly visible due to its bulky form. The form is aesthetically pleasant and will fit into any waterfront environment, enhance it and complement it. The idea grew from merging features of rescue ladder and anchor chain in a form which is similar to bicycle chain. These two elements are commonly associated with docks and waterfront areas. It is also a form often found in industrial environment, transport, shipyards, structure of bridges as well as personal daily use items like bicycle or jeweler. The F7 concept allows for variation of form and dimensions. The elements can be put together into fixed (straight or/and shaped) or flexible rescue ladder. This allows for the ladder to fit into any place and meet any site conditions. The ladder can be folded which solves potential problems in case of freezing water and allows for convenient and easy transport. The unique buoyancy capability can be helpful in case of rescuing a person from thin ice conditions or even allow to transport in the water an injured person. Competiton website in here...
